As part of this website project, I am attempting to compile a database of the postcards of North East Essex (Harwich, Dovercourt and Parkeston areas). If you have any images or cards you would like to share or added to this site, I would be happy to publish them.
I am hoping that this web site will be completed by the end of 2020, so I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for your continuing support and good wishes.
Kind Regards
Gavin

Many web sites exist covering postcard collecting and a few gems covering the areas of Harwich, Dovercourt and Parkeston, here are just a few great web links:-

Everything you want to know about "The Three Cups"

The Three Cups is an ancient Inn frequently mentioned in Harwich records. The existing building was built as a Tudor Mansion next to the Church of St Nicholas circa 1500.

The Harwich Society was founded in 1969 to help preserve the ancient seaport town of Harwich. It has a membership of 2,000 in a town of 15,000 population. The Harwich Society is restoring the largest ancient monument in the area, The Harwich Redoubt Fort, part of the Martello chain built during the Napoleonic Wars,  and so far has spent £150,000 on the project. It established and maintains a Maritime Museum in a disused lighthouse. It raised £20,000 to have two other iron lighthouses fully restored.

Harwich is a busy coastal town and international port located on the estuary of the rivers Stour and Orwell in north-east Essex, England. The town is a historically important port which has provided a sheltered anchorage for shipping through the ages. The old town of Harwich is a conservation area containing many historic buildings. The neighbouring town of Dovercourt, while appearing much more modern, actually merits a mention in the Domesday Book.

One cannot and must not try to erase the past merely because it does not fit the present
