The King's visit to Dovercourt, May 1905
On 19th May 1905, King Edward VII visited Dovercourt. The main purpose of the visit was to inspect the local militia.
The King arrived at Dovercourt Railway Station at 4.18pm and was formally greeted by Colonel Coke of the Norfolk Military, during their fortnight's annual training at Harwich.
In the evening before returning to London, the King had dinner with his officers in the Alexandra Hotel, which is today Alexandra House.
