02 Entrance to Harwich (1890) H&D FW
03 Harwich Main Entrance (1890) FW
A very early photograph taken around 1890, looking North along Main Road, towards Harwich
These early views taken in Main Road, Harwich, show little has changed over the years, the photographer must have been close to the Masonic Hall to the left, when he took the photo, with St Nicholas Church and upper lighthouse, dominating the Harwich skyline. Later views capture similar scenes, with the last two views, adding some colour, to illustrate the scene, as it would have actually appeared, back in the day.

These series of postcards were published between 1910 - 1920, all with a pre-fix of "Numbers 01 -20 and followed the earlier series in the late Edwardian period, some of which are already uploaded to the web site.
