An unusual view of the interior of the Pavilion, facing East away from the stage.
The newly constructed Pavilion was completed in 1932, with a civic opening on Monday the 27th June 1932. The venue provided seating for 330 people and was built on the site of the old Cooperative bandstand, built at the turn of the century (this unfortunately had to be demolished during the construction).
Bands, choirs, dances, bowling, talent contests, competitions and even radio broadcasts were all occurring at the Pavilion for nearly 40 years.
The end came in the early 1970's with demolition and construction of the new promenade.
